Sports Mole takes an in-depth look at how Brentford could line up for Saturday’s Premier League clash with Ipswich Town.
Brentford are likely to be boosted by the return of Mathias Jensen in Saturday’s Premier League showdown with Ipswich Town at the Gtech Community Stadium.
The Danish midfielder was not quite ready to return from a calf problem in last weekend’s 2-1 loss to Manchester United, but Thomas Frank said before the trip to Old Trafford that the signs were “very positive” for this weekend’s game.
There is also a slim chance that long-term absentee Rico Henry will be part of a matchday squad for the first time this year on Saturday, but Igor Thiago (knee), Gustavo Nunes (back), Aaron Hickey (thigh) and Josh Dasilva (knee) are all absent.
Jensen may not force his way back into the starting lineup straight away, though, especially seeing as Mikkel Damsgaard is flourishing in a central role and set up Ethan Pinnock‘s opener against Man United with a fabulous corner.
The ex-Sampdoria winger now has three assists in his last two Premier League games and should join Christian Norgaard and Vitaly Janelt in the centre once more, but there could be an alteration up front.
Bryan Mbeumo and Kevin Schade should not be at any risk of dropping out, but Yoane Wissa is vying to come in for Keane Lewis-Potter on the left flank.
Even though the Bees are yet to keep a single clean sheet in the top flight this term, the back four of Pinnock, Nathan Collins, Sepp van den Berg and Kristoffer Ajer should remain unchanged.
Brentford possible starting lineup:
Flekken; Van den Berg, Collins, Pinnock, Ajer; Damsgaard, Janelt, Norgaard; Mbeumo, Schade, Wissa
