Angela wrote us an emotional letter.
“Hello! I am contacting you in the hope that you and your readers can help me in a difficult family situation. My husband, Alan, and I have been married for 10 years and have a five-year-old daughter, Emily. Until recently, I thought I was living a dream life. Alan and I have successful careers – I’m growing my business and he’s an executive at a large law firm. We absolutely adore Emily and have always tried to give her the best life. Emily is a very calm girl, but one episode of her bad behavior worried her mom.
“Emily has always been a very well-behaved girl. We rarely deal with tantrums or misbehavior, so I was extremely shocked when she suddenly started acting out of character.
It happened two weeks ago when we were out for a walk. Out of nowhere, Emily started crying and pointing at a woman casually walking by. To my complete disbelief, this woman looked over, immediately recognized Emily and smiled warmly. Then she called my daughter, saying, ‘Emily, honey, I missed you so much!’
I was speechless. The woman only seemed to notice me after that, and by then Emily had stopped crying and was happily hugging her, calling her ‘Aunt Kelly’. My daughter seemed overjoyed to see her. Ever since Emily turned one, Alan secretly took her to meet Kelly, who spent time with her as if she were her own child.
Everything makes me sick. I told Alan to pack his things and leave the house immediately. He claimed, saying that he had done nothing wrong, that it was all in the past. But the thought of it disgusts me, and I want Alan out of my life—and Emily, too. Am I exaggerating?”
