The Ambassador of Romania in Kiev, Victor Micula, paid tribute to the ethnic Romanians in Ukraine who are fighting at the front, saying that they risk their lives so that “we are free and safe”, reports Agerpres.
“Today, many of the men and women of the Chernivtsi region, many of them ethnic Romanians, are fighting at the front to be free and safe. They are fighting against the dictator who has publicly declared his admiration for the one who caused the Holodomor, ordered the execution and deportation of hundreds of thousands of inhabitants of these lands, including Romanians, and assumed the role of the continuation of the doctrine Stalinist criminal”. declared Victor Micula, at an event celebrating the National Day, held in Chernivtsi.
The Romanian diplomat expressed his solidarity with the Ukrainian people.
“When we think of those Romanians who laid the foundations of what we are today, we cannot help but think of the Ukrainians who, in turn, joined the queue to try to make the dream of having their own country, where they can decide their future, speak their language without fear, honor their ancestors and heroes,” said the Romanian ambassador to Ukraine.
He also stated that Romania will “work” so that Ukraine’s dream of being independent and sovereign, and fully controlling its territory, becomes a reality.
“We must work together so that the dream of an independent and sovereign Ukraine, which fully controls its territory, where democracy, the rule of law and respect for human rights are guaranteed and which is part of the European Union and of NATO, alongside Romania, becomes a reality,” added the diplomat.
