Warning: There are spoilers ahead for From season 3, episode 10, “Revelations: Chapter Two.”
From season 3 reveals a difficult truth about the monsters despite Boyd Stevens (Harold Perrineau) killing one of them. All the residents in the Town have been terrorized by From‘s nocturnal monsters, who emerge each night without fail, and have found increasingly disturbing ways to torment their victims. The Talismans that Boyd discovered have been useful in keeping the residents protected from the monsters in an enclosed space. This allows From‘s characters to stay in their homes at night instead of having to hide as they did before Boyd found the Talismans.
However, there is only so much that the Talismans can do, and the larger issue of the monsters remains. In From season 2, episode 6, “Pas de Deux,” the residents seemingly have a game-changing victory against the monsters. Boyd kills the monster known as Smiley (Jamie McGuire), which is the first known instance of one of the monsters being killed. Unfortunately, the From season 3 ending destroys this victory as Boyd witnesses a new horrifying truth.
Smiley’s Return Means From’s Monsters Can’t Really Die
The Monsters Are Immortal
After Fatima (Pegah Ghafoori) gives birth, Boyd goes into the tunnels, where he sees that her “baby” is a fully grown Smiley (Jamie McGuire), who has now been reborn. This answers several of From‘s major mysteries, including what was growing inside of Fatima and how the monsters were created. The monsters were once people who sacrificed their children in exchange for immortality. Smiley’s resurrection proves that they cannot die and will merely be reborn if any of the residents manage to kill them.

In season 2, Smiley’s death seemed like a significant step forward in learning how to defeat the monsters. Instead, it was little more than a temporary setback for the monsters, and Boyd unknowingly hurt his own daughter-in-law, as his actions led to her becoming pregnant with Smiley. Boyd and other residents must now reconcile with the harsh truth that the monsters cannot be killed and that they will need to find another way to defend themselves moving forward.
Saving The Children Might Be The Only Way To Destroy From’s Monsters For Good
This Would Make Tabitha And Jade’s Revelation Even More Important
Another major reveal in the finale is that Tabitha Matthews (Catalina Sandino Moreno) and Jade Herrera (David Alpay) have been to the Town many times before and every version of them has tried and failed to save From‘s “Anghkooey” children. Since the monsters cannot be killed, the only way to defeat them may be through finally succeeding in saving the children. This would explain why Tabitha and Jade remembering who they are is so important.

If the Boy in White (Vox Smith) is genuinely trying to help the residents, his faraway bottle tree advice seems connected to saving the children. He tells Christopher (Thom Payne), who was a past version of Jade, to go through the faraway tree many years ago. The Boy in White also tells Victor (Scott McCord) not to cut down the faraway tree. Tabitha, Jade, and Victor need to figure out how the faraway tree connects to saving the children, which may help them finally defeat From‘s monsters.
