It was last June. Everyone thought it was impossible, and yet we did it! For thousands, we knocked on doors and used our phones, encouraging colleagues, friends, parents to go vote. First, of course, to warn of the dangers of a government led by the National assembly. To convince, also, that our proposals are able to respond to democratic, ecological and social challenges.
Your commitment has defied all predictions: the left and the environmentalists, allies, have succeeded in becoming the first force in the National Assembly. It wasn’t enough. Emmanuel Macron ignored the change requested at the vote and appointed a Prime minister which does not defend any of our priorities: the restoration of public services, the ecological bifurcation, the defense of the standard of living, the preservation of our public liberties.
So now what should we do? This is the question you ask us every day, all over the country. Above all, tell us your desire to help, to contribute, to act. And the imperative to win! Everywhere, we see the degradation of our public services, the precariousness of our jobsthe weakening of our industries, weakened our lives, even our ability to live together.
Everywhere, the effects of climate change and the collapse of life are already dramatically felt. Everywhere, populist discourses are gaining ground and testing our democracies. Many countries have already changed in reaction, against ecology, against progress, against freedoms. You also confide in us your tiredness to see the old habits returned to the gallop, and the energy lost in the political disputes disconnected from the field.
We agree: we do not have the luxury of divisions, nor that of improvisation. Every dispute in our field is an offer to our opponents. We do not give them this gift.
It is now that everything is at stake. From now on, we need to organize and build a common project for the left, the forces of progress and the ecologists. An ambitious and solid project, anchored to everyday problems, which responds to the concrete expectations expressed many times over the years by millions of French people. So that our parents are well taken care of, so that our children grow up on a habitable planet, so that everyone can live decently with their salary, so that our freedom the public are respected and that France can be proud of its motto. To make these aspirations a reality, there is only one way: win!
We count on the daily commitment of many of you, in local leaders, in your associations, unions, networks, and even at work. We now have to organize to get a majority in Parliament and win the next presidential election.
We are addressing everyone who wants to get involved in the victory of an ambitious humanist project, without any exclusion. Let them know that there is a shared house. We also count on all those who have already worked there, everywhere, and before us.
We suggest you build a framework for reflection and common action, to win the cultural battle against the rights and the extreme right, and being able to govern to change lives, really. We are working in depth to design the France we want, and we are organizing grassroots mobilizations throughout the country, so that they live, convince and unite our ideas.
We believe that every victory is a team story and that the urgency requires us to be able to gather around our convergences. We have a single prerequisite for this collective adventure: we want a common candidacy for the next presidential election, without putting this or that name as a prerequisite for collective work.
We have no more time to waste. Across the country, overseas and in France, we engage in this collective work. To win, the first step is just one click: gagnons-ensemble.fr. The rest, we will write together. See you later!
