Citizens who do not have valid identity documents can obtain them including the day of the Sunday vote, the population registration offices having extended hours, from 07.00 to 21.00.
“For the day of the elections, the General Directorate of the Archives of the Population recommended to the territorial directorates the extension of the program. The identity documents are issued urgently as a result of the deadline, the loss, theft or damage of those they had before,” DGEP spokeswoman Cătălina Niță told HotNews.
All requests for the issuance of identity documents will be processed quickly, so it is possible that a citizen who submits the request during Sunday morning can receive the new identity document during the afternoon to be able to vote in the parliamentary elections .
If a person will not be able to present all the necessary documents to issue a new identity document, a temporary identity card can also be issued.
The same procedure will be applied in case of a second round of presidential elections.
In any case, Cătălina Niță recommends all those who do not have valid identity documents to access the websites of the territorial directorates of the population registers, since there may be some variations of the program, depending on the available resources for these directions.
The population registration departments will have an extended program next weekend, when the second round of presidential elections should be held.
Thus, on Saturday 7 December, the program recommended by DGEP is 08.00-16.00, and Sunday 8 December, the recommendation is for the interval 07.00-21.00.
