He has struggled with injuries over the past three years, missing a total of 11 games. During the offseason, the Eagles could draft their replacement.
For the rest of the regular season, the Eagles will use several players to replace Goedert’s production.
Philadelphia signed tight end EJ Jenkins off the practice squad on Saturday, for the NFL Network. Jenkins ran out of elevation after playing in three games this season.
The Eagles also signed the tight end CJ Uzomah off the practice squad this week.
Uzomah, Jenkins and the third-year tight end Grant Calcaterra each could have a big impact.
Calcaterra has already started three games (Weeks 7-9) in place of Goedert this year. During that time, he finished with nine catches for 93 yards.
The Eagles will use Calcaterra as their primary pass catcher. Uzomah doesn’t get many targets, but he will be used as a blocker.
The Eagles coach Nick Sirianni told reporters Wednesday that Uzomah made a big block against Baltimore during the fourth quarter.
Goedert finished with 38 catches for 441 yards and two touchdowns through 13 weeks.
