An updated civil lawsuit against rapper Sean “Diddy” Combs alleges that he and Jay-Z raped a 13-year-old girl at an after party in 2000. Jay-Z denied the claims: “These allegations are so heinous in nature that I’m asking you to file criminal charges, not civil!!”
Celebrated rapper and record producer Jay-Z has been accused of raping a 13-year-old girl, allegedly along with Sean “Diddy” Combs.
The accuser, who has been identified as “Jane Doe,” said the attack happened at an after party following the September 2000 MTV Video Music Awards.
A federal lawsuit, which he was originally just called Combswas re-registered on Sunday in New York to add Jay-Z, whose real name is Shawn Carter.
The lawsuit alleges that Doe went to the VMAs at Radio City Music Hall without a ticket and approached various limo drivers to try to gain access to the performance or the after party. According to NBC Newsone driver allegedly told Doe that he worked for Combs and that she “matched what Diddy was looking for.”
The driver dropped her off at a white house with a U-shaped driveway, where the girl was made to sign what she believed to be a non-disclosure agreement.
She was allegedly offered a drink that made her feel “dizzy, dizzy and feeling [like] she had to lie down”.
The suit goes on to say that both Combs and Carter entered the room. She alleges that he took off her clothes, held her down and raped her while Combs and an unnamed female celebrity looked on. She says Combs also raped her while Carter and the woman looked on.
“Another celebrity stood by and watched as Combs and Carter took turns attacking the minor. Many others were present at the after party but did nothing to stop the attack,” the complaint states. “Carter was with Combs during many of the cases described here. Both perpetrators must face justice.”
Jay-Z denied the claims, stating to X via his Roc Nation label: “My lawyer received a blackmail attempt, called a demand letter, from a ‘lawyer’ named Tony Buzbee. What he calculated was the nature of these allegations and Public Scrutiny would make me settle.
In a statement to NBC News, Jay-Z added, “These allegations are so heinous in nature that I am asking you to file criminal charges, not civil charges!! Whoever would commit such a crime against a minor should be locked up, wouldn’t you agreed that these alleged victims would deserve real justice if that were the case?”
“My heart and support goes out to the true victims of the world, who have to watch their life story dressed up for profit by this ambulance chaser in a cheap suit,” he added.
Buzbee announced earlier on October 1st that he did represents 120 accused in the cases against Combs, who is charged separately with sex trafficking and racketeering.
Federal prosecutors allege that Combs sexually abused women and forced them into drug-fuelled sex parties using threats and violence. His criminal trial is currently scheduled to begin on May 5, 2025.
