An old people’s house and several houses were evacuated during the night from Wednesday to Thursday after the propeller of a wind turbine in the town of Poarta Albă, Constanta County, began to operate out of control due to of the wind Thursday morning, the rotor and propeller of the wind turbine fell in the courtyard of the nursing home without causing material damage or human casualties, ISU Constanța announced.

The local publication Ziua de Constanța has published several images from the scene where you can see the faulty propeller of the collapsed wind turbine in the courtyard of the hotel.

The turbine has not worked for 7 years

This wind farm was owned by the County Council of Constanta, which was managed by DGASPC, the Ministry of Energy told HotNews.ro.

“The wind turbine that had problems last night in Balta Albă was supposed to serve that nursing home, but it has not worked for the last 7 years,” representatives of the Ministry of Energy told HotNews. “The owner is the County Council of Constanta, and the administration has been transferred to DGASP Constanța.”

Firefighters evacuated 72 people from the nursing home near the faulty wind turbine on Wednesday night. In addition, the houses in a radius of 250 meters were evacuated.

After the rotor and propeller fell, firefighters determined that there was no longer any danger, and the elderly were transferred to the center.
