The tragic wildfires ravaging California have had the side effect of sweeping Crunchyroll into the fray. The entertainment industry writ large has been massively hit by the situation in California, with several major productions like Grey’s Anatomy and S.W.A.T. also being put on hold. The major anime streaming platform, based in San Francisco, is very close to the wildfires that have ravaged Los Angeles County, so it’s only natural that the conditions would impact them.
As a whole, 2024 saw Crunchyroll face major struggles in terms of its industry position, and it goes without saying that conditions in California haven’t provided an optimal start to 2025. The background behind the news is horrible, but fans nonetheless would like to know what’s going on with their favorite series and franchises. Here’s the low-down on the Crunchyroll delays, based on everything known at the moment.
California Wildfires Lead To Delayed Crunchyroll Dub Releases
Dub Loyalists Will Need To Wait For Updates On The Following Series
A post on Crunchyroll’s X account from January 10, 2025 announced that certain anime will have the releases of their dubs delayed due to weather conditions. The delays will impact major series for Crunchyroll like Blue Lock and Natsume’s Book of Friends. As of right now, the list of delays provided by Crunchyroll includes:
- Blue Lock, season 2, episode 11
- MF Ghost, season 2, episode 11
- Natsume’s Book of Friends, season 7, episode 11
- Arifureta, season 3, episodes 10 and 11
- You are Ms. Servant, episode 11
- Fairy Tail: 100 Years Quest, episode 23
As of right now, no information has been provided as to when fans can expect the dub releases to be provided. However, given the conditions, it’s obviously a scenario that requires diligence and patience from fans, however frustrating circumstances might be. There is no reason as of now to expect that this will affect the sub releases for the aforementioned anime, so fans of the series are encouraged to sit tight and enjoy the sub if they would like to keep up with their favorite series.
