Warning: contains spoilers for X-Men #9Marvel’s beloved X-Men are known for many things, but above all else, they are infamous for their tight, sexy, potentially inappropriate costumes, which often lead the mutant heroes to top “Marvel’s Hottest Heroes” lists. While the X-Men are clearly proud of their hyper-sexualized looks, their enemies are not as appreciative, with the diabolical Dr. Ellis insulting the mutants’ “little pervert suits” in X-Men #9.
The X-Men wearing skin-tight bodysuits is nothing new, with heroes like Colossus, Gambit, Nightcrawler, Rogue, Storm, and Magik consistently wearing revealing outfits – essentially just swimsuits – that leave nothing to the imagination.
X-Men #9, from writer Jed MacKay and artist Federico Vicentini, is part of the “Raid on Graymalkin” crossover event, which sees both Cyclops and Rogue’s X-Men teams infiltrating Dr. Corina Ellis’ Graymalkin Prison to free their teammates. In her frustration, Ellis refers to the X-Men’s costumes as “little pervert suits,” and later Scurvy calls the two teams, “Beautiful people in tight clothes,” further confirming just how steamy the X-Men truly are.

The X-Men got new costumes with their all-new From the Ashes era, and not only do they break tradition, they also make them more like the Avengers.
The X-Men Have Always Been A Sexualized Hero Team
Relationship drama and thirst traps are key to the X-Men
The X-Men are an undeniably steamy group of heroes, with icons like Rogue, Colossus, and Gambit constantly giving fans “thirst trap” looks, whether in Marvel’s iconic swimsuit issue or just on a standard mission. Even the other X-Men realize how sexualized they are, with out gay hero Iceman once commenting on how big of a crush he had on Angel as a teenager, a hero who was literally always shirtless and flexing. While modern X-Men costumes don’t all reveal as much skin, they are almost exclusively incredibly skintight, clinging to the toned, muscled bodies of beloved heroes like Cyclops and Storm.

It’s Official: X-Men Are The ‘Horniest’ Marvel Characters
Iron Man pays a call on Krakoa in his new book, and on the way there, he officially confirms that the X-Men are the “horniest” Marvel characters.
The X-Men’s costumes go beyond mere “steamy” status, at times entering into highly sexualized looks that the mutant Stacy X once called “fetish gear.” From Askani’s spiked leather bodysuit to Emma Frost’s dominatrix vibes, the X-Men are basically a walking advertisement for the Folsom Street Fair, and they clearly don’t plan on changing anytime soon. The X-Men’s beloved Krakoan era certainly did not help Ellis’ accusation of the heroes wearing “perverted suits,” with the island nation known for being exceptionally horny, polyamorous, and filled with baby-making protocols. Plus, as Scurvy pointed out, many of the X-Men are model-level gorgeous, so why shouldn’t they show off their bodies to both distract and intimidate their enemies?
The X-Men Have More Sex Symbols Than Any Other Team At Marvel
Nightcrawler, Colossus, Psylocke, and countless others top the charts
The X-Men are chock-full of sex symbols, most notably Colossus, Nightcrawler, Psylocke, Rogue, Magneto, and Gambit, who X-Men fans have had serious crushes on for decades. In particular, the buff Colossus is nearly always half-naked, with his ripped metal body leading to countless thirst traps, and Gambit, whose shirtless 2022 Hellfire Gala costume made a huge splash when it debuted. With countless heartthrobs lining the X-Men’s various teams, it is no wonder their enemies know and loathe them as the “beautiful heroes in pervert suits.”
