The leader of PNL Iasi, Alexandru Muraru, argues that if the judges of the Constitutional Court apply the standard used in the case of the invalidation of the candidacy of Diana Şoşoacă, then no other candidate from the extremist area will be able to apply May presidential election.
According to Muraru, an avalanche of appeals to the CCR is expected, especially against extremist candidates, reports News.ro.
“I think there will be an avalanche of appeals, especially in the area of extremist candidates. I also think that the constitutional judges are tempted to apply the same standards as in the case of Diana Şoşoacă. I read the justification for the invalidation of the candidacy of Diana Şoşoacă and I tell you that in the case of Mr. Georgescu or in the case of Mr. Simion, there are much more aggressive and forceful statements against the order constitutional. If we have to apply the standard of the CCR judges, it is possible to remove them from the presidential race. I think they will no longer run,” said Alexandru Muraru.
According to the liberal Muraru, in the presidential elections at the end of last year, there was no appeal to CCR against Călin Georgescu nor against George Simion, because they could participate in the presidential race.
“During the presidential election campaign, I had no objection against Georgescu or Simion. But in this year’s elections, at the time of the presentation of the candidacies, after they pass the Electoral Office and every objection is presented, in 48 hours, the CCR pronounces itself”, said Alexandru Muraru.
