Thousands of people, including some from other counties of the country, gathered on Friday near the Constitutional Court of Romania (CCR), in Bucharest, in the Parliament Palace, for a protest called “Great Legal Union of Romanians” . The main request: the resumption of the 2nd round of the presidential election. In fact, the protest came at the instigation of Călin Georgescu and came at the moment when the lawyers of the former candidate notified the CCR. The atmosphere was tense in placesespecially when journalists tried to talk to the protesters, who accused the media of “lying”. HotNews.ro spoke to some of the protesters to find out who they are and what makes them trust Călin Georgescu.
- “The color of the country must change, because until now it was only red and yellow,” said a protester referring to PSD and PNL, in a dialogue with HotNews.ro.
What the supporters of Călin Georgescu say
HotNews.ro spoke on Friday with several people gathered in front of the CCR. We wanted to know from them who they are, how old they are, what they do, how they found out about Călin Georgescu and what are their reasons for trusting the former presidential candidate:
- “He is a very intelligent person, I don’t know that there have been people in Parliament who speak so many languages fluently in Parliament”;
- “A hurricane against the globalist system and you will see the system fall”;
- “A man who wants to preserve the riches of the country: waters, lands”;
- “We become the people we were.”
Thousands of pro-Georgescu supporters demonstrated in front of the Parliament. After five hours, some of them briefly moved to the government
The protest, which was scheduled to begin at 10 a.m., began an hour or so earlier. The maximum number of participants, around 5000, was recorded around 12 o’clock, when they had already blocked a direction of traffic from the square of the Francophonie to the front of the Cathedral of the Redemption of the Nation.
After 12:00, people, some coming from Iași, Brașov, Mureș, Maramureș, Argeș or Vâlcea, started to leave. At 3 pm and a few minutes later, Călin Georgescu’s lawyer, Marina Alexandru, announced to the few hundred people that the demonstration had come to an end.
Some of the demonstrators then left in front of the CCR towards the Government, where they protested for about an hour and a half, until around 6 pm.
