The humanitarian crisis in Transnistria was “artificially” provoked by the Kremlin to return pro-Russian forces to power in the Republic of Moldova (in the autumn legislative elections) so that Russia can strengthen its military presence at the left of the Dniester. , the Prime Minister denounced on Wednesday Dorin Recean, after the weekly meeting of the government, informs the publication Ziarul Naţional from Chişinău, cited by Agerpres.
“As we anticipated from the beginning of this humanitarian and security crisis on the left of the Dniester, Gazprom will resume gas deliveries to the region. The Kremlin regime has held the people hostage, mercilessly, in the cold and in the dark, because he wants to bring pro-Russian groups to power in Chisinau, which will plunge our state into conflict and destabilize public order,” said Recean. .
“These pro-Russian forces will facilitate the growth and consolidation of Russia’s military presence on the left side of the Dniester. This is where the use of this military capability begins for aggression both against Ukraine and against to Romania”, warned the Prime Minister of the Republic of Moldova.
The conflict in Transnistria, according to him, cannot be resolved until Russia withdraws its troops and weapons from the constitutional territory of the Republic of Moldova.
“The Russian Federation must withdraw its troops from our territory. The authorities called to the left of the Dniester are unconstitutional. The Republic of Moldova has a negotiation framework for the reunification of the state,” said Recean, denouncing the attempts of Russia to generate chaos in the Republic of Moldova.
Dorin Recean emphasized that the Russian Federation has generated an artificial energy crisis in Transnistria without taking into account that more than 300,000 people live there.
“The government is doing everything necessary so that the citizens on the left of the Dniester do not live in darkness, so that they do not have a humanitarian crisis. Or, this is exactly what the Kremlin is after. What we see now is the preparation of the information space for the next stage of this hybrid aggression”, he said to the head of the government, indicating that Chisinau anticipated how the crisis will develop “artificially provoked by the Russian Federation through Gazprom”. .
“It is already clear that Gazprom supplies natural gas in a smaller amount, enough to produce electricity only for the left bank of the Dniester. They do not want the right bank to have access to the cheap electricity produced by the Cuciurgan Power Plant They want to push us into a scenario of conflict. Chisinau will not accept these tricks. It is important for us to preserve peace and security the necessary actions to ensure peace and security,” Recean emphasized.
All this “cynical game provoked and fueled by the Kremlin” aims to install a pro-Russian administration in Chisinau, which could plunge the Republic of Moldova into war, he warned.
“Russia’s ultimate goal is destabilization in the Transnistrian region, which has already happened, destabilization in the Security Zone, then destabilization in the entire republic. The ultimate goal is the installation of a pro-Russian administration in Chisinau, which facilitates the growth and consolidation of Russia’s military presence on the left of the Dniester. This is where the use of this military capability begins for the aggression against Ukraine, but also against Romania. We have to consider this scenario,” concluded Dorin Recean.
The so-called head of Tiraspol, Vadim Krasnoselski, told media in the region on Wednesday, after returning from Moscow on the eve, that Russia would “soon” resume gas supplies to Transnistria. He did not indicate a concrete date regarding the resumption of shipments, nor did he reveal the details about the amount that will reach the left of the Dniester, noting only that he had “negotiations” in this regard at the level of the Russian Ministry of Energy, according to the aforementioned publication.
