The countdown to The Boys season 5 is on, with Homelander’s Antony Starr donning his character’s trademark blonde haircut ahead of a return to filming. Serving as the final season of Prime Video’s hit superhero satire, The Boys season 5 is still yet to receive an official release date, but is not expected to arrive until sometime in 2026. Most recently, Mother’s Milk star Laz Alonso teased a return to filming by sharing a photo of the show’s main cast gathered for dinner in Toronto.
Now The Boys’ official Twitter account has heightened anticipation for the show’s season 5 return, sharing a new behind-the-scenes photo of Starr sporting Homelander’s classic blonde locks and giving an emphatic thumbs up. Perfectly channeling Karl Urban’s Billy Butcher, the account succinctly captioned the image with “Blondie’s f–kin back.” Check out the original post below:

There Is No Better Face To Represent The Hit Show’s Return To Production
Over the past four seasons, The Boys has introduced an eclectic and ever-expanding cast of characters. Drawing inspiration from major superhero franchises, as well as current real-world political and cultural landscapes, The Boys’ collection of roles has grown to include some of streaming television’s most outrageous characters. However, at its heart, few roles on The Boys are as audacious and despicable as Starr’s sociopathic leader of The Seven.

The Boys is ending with season 5, and while that might be disappointing to fans of the Amazon show, it feels like the right time to wrap things up.
As such, it is appropriate that The Boys social media team should celebrate the show’s imminent return with a glimpse of their primary antagonist. With The Boys season 5 widely expected to provide a definitive conclusion to the long-running hostilities between Starr’s Homelander and Urban’s Billy Butcher, there is no better face to represent the hit show’s return to production.
Our Take On Homelander’s Season 5 Fate
It’s Already Too Late To Repeat His Comic Ending
Fans of the original comics by Garth Ennis and Darick Robertson likely already have their own opinions about how showrunner Eric Kripke may elect to wrap up The Boys. With most viewers already expecting one final clash between Homelander and Butcher, it is possible that season 5 may draw deeply from their characters’ respective comic endings.
However, Kripke has also shown that he is not afraid to deviate wildly from The Boys comics, and it is already far too late for his show to faithfully follow the source material through to its own conclusion. As such, Starr’s version of Homelander may very well end up with a conclusion vastly different to the way his character’s death was depicted in the comics. Moreover, while most viewers would assume that The Boys’ eventual series finale will finally see Homelander meet his much-deserved comeuppance, previous seasons have also taught audiences to embrace the increasingly shocking and unexpected.
